    Does Poppy make everything?

Not any more! Poppy designs all the products and makes the first one. She develops templates and samples and then she hands over to her team of cutters and stitchers. The products are all cut in the studio in Penzance and then go out to the stitchers who work from home. They then bring everything back - done!

    Where is the range made?

We are proud to say that our range is hand made by our little team down in Cornwall. What we can't make for ourselves we source from other fab British companies but the majority is designed, cut and sewn from our Penzance studio and that's the way we're staying.

Can I buy products anywhere else?

Yes. If you want details of a stockist in your area then do get in touch with us and you can also visit the events page for fairs we might be doing.

What do I need to know about hand made products?

As our products are hand made and all out stitchers haver a slightly different style, we cannot guarantee that the product you receive will be exactly the same as the one you see on screen. We like to think that’s what makes our products special and different and we hope you will too. We sometimes need to use a different fabric to the one in the photo but we never use a fabric that we don't feel to be lovely! Also bare in mind that colours on your screen will be different to colours in real life.

How do I care for my purchase?

The mix of fabrics used in our embroidered products means that they should be washed by hand with great care in cool water. Tea and coffee cosies should not be wrung or turned inside out and should be dried flat. Our printed fabric ranges can be washed on the hand-wash cycle in your machine and dried flat. Our tea towels are unbleached cotton and are fully machine washable and our ceramics are dishwasher proof and microwave proof.

Do you sell the range to trade?

We do indeed. If you are interested in opening a trade account with us then please contact our wholesale manager Tamsin Leach on tamsin@poppytreffry.co.uk or fill out a trade application.

    Do you offer personalisation?

Yes - we offer a range of personalised pictures. These are personalised by Poppy herself on her original 1930's Singer sewing machine. We are sometimes able to personalise our bags as these are made to order. Sadly we can't personalise or adapt any other products.

    Do you do courses?

Yes, we do! We currently run these online. We don't do them very often though so the best thing is to join our newsletter and follow us on social media if you don't want to miss out.

Do I need a special machine to do freehand machine embroidery?

Most machines will do freehand machine embroidery - you just need to be able to drop the feed teeth (or sometimes you can get a plate to cover them). This allows your fabric to travel freely. You then need to use a darning foot and stretch your fabric in an embroidery hoop. Poppy's books give lots of tips!

Will you be making new products soon?

Our range is ever changing and evolving as Poppy tries out new ideas and takes new inspiration from the world around her. Keep an eye on our website, social media and make sure you are signed up to our retail newsletter and you will always be the first to know about new things.
