7. Karen Davey Contemporary Home Furnishings 

karen daveyKaren decided to give up her day job and do ‘something totally different’. She sat down with a borrowed sewing machine, and very soon discovered her future lay in the creative sewing world. Karen handed in her notice and booked a stand at the Royal Cornwall Show, selling just bunting, two months after she started the business. In 2012, Karen was recognised by former BBC Dragon Theo Paphitis as part of his Small Business Sunday twitter awards and has also set up a pop up shop outside of number 10 Downing Street. She now makes home furnishing products for shops, online websites, businesses, holiday properties, wedding venues and private homes.

The farm is based on St Martin's, one of the smaller islands that make up the Isles of Scilly.
